I'm not sure about this, but the "gut feeling" I'm getting after hundreds of hours, is that a kingdom that is in a hectic war, seems like more looters, bandits run rampant as well.
Yes, but that isn't the average of caravans. My caravan can go up to 5k and then fluke into -3k. Just because you snap shot 1 time period doesn't mean it makes it good. Caravans are bad, because they get caught often. Sometimes even after 1 day as some people reported. Ofc they can work and are decent income, but not guaranteed.
From what I understand from watching a couple of vids, trade skill is the least important thing for caravan leaders. It barely affects the profit. Scouting and Riding are way more important. So at this stage, there is pretty much no reason to have a companion with Trade by the looks.
Sometimes they are amazing and sometimes you will be stuck wondering why your caravan isn't making any money at all. I suggest using a companion with high Trade skill (Spicevendor is perfect) to make the caravan. My companions are all 25+ level beasts. For context. It’s four in game years. I used hideouts to train them and they all specialise in either one handed or two handed, one has a bow. So something ive noticed after the patch im still seeing caravans running around with more than 30 soldiers. i started this play through after the update so i know it isnt a glitch from an old game either. im going out on a limb here i havent checked it yet however im starting to think they made it where that is the base number and then to get more you need to have a higher steward level to
